I have thoroughly enjoyed my summer...the sunshine and family time. I hope you have, as well. Although it is always hard to go back, I have the best job in the world! Plus, I could not be more excited to spend another year with this wonderful group of children. I just can't wait to see them again. I am ready for some first grade hugs!
We have just over three weeks until the first day of school. Students begin Wednesday, August 28. Now is a good time to start easing into the school schedule. Start waking the kids a little earlier and going to bed a bit earlier until you get them back on schedule.
I hope that you have helped your child continue his/her learning over the summer. Don't worry if you haven't started the summer learning packet, it is not too late! Please tell your child that every monthly packet they complete and hand into me equals a trip to the treasure box!
Of course, the most important way to prevent the summer slide is to read! Please help me push RazKids this August. The goal in our house for my first grader, is to listen/read/quiz once a day all through August. He is up for the challenge! I see that many of you have been on RazKids. So great! Keep up the hard work. Here is another motivator, every 100 minutes read in RazKids this summer will be another trip to the class treasure box. I know I will have some kids rich in treasures by the end of August. Best of luck!
