Attention Readers

These Connected Kinders are reading! How exciting! They are so proud of themselves. We have been working hard on becoming readers. How do you become a better reader? READ, READ, READ!

Here is an app by Grasshopper apps. This company makes several emergent readers. The "I Like Books" app that we have on our class ipads costs $1.99 and it has 37 books. The children can have the app read to them or read the book by themselves. The app highlights the words as it reads and if the student gets stuck on a tricky word, a simple tap on the word and the ipad will read it for them. The books cover a variety of interesting topics and contain many important high frequency words for early readers. In class, I have the students echo read the books. The ipad reads the page to them, then they are to read the page back.
