Monday we celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday by participating in a school wide read in. The first half hour of school all the students lined the hallways and just read. Even the teachers and our principal dropped everything to read. The read in, the sponsors gathered in the read-a-thon, the minutes already recorded on the students' reading logs, the forty plus students attending reading club every morning, the hundreds of Dr. Seuss books the children have brought to share this week....all these things show what a wonderful commitment our Eagle Cliff's family has to reading. I am so proud to be a part of this community.
We had lots of fun Seuss reading activities throughout our day. Besides being very diligent readers, the children assembled famous Dr. Seuss quotes with magnetic letters and explored a ton of learning games on the official Seussville website. Click on the word Seusville to enjoy at home. We even had special, healthy Seuss hat snack.
Special THINGS continued into our afternoon. We made Thing hats, read a biography on Dr. Seuss in our Scholastic News, had birthday cake, and played a Thing math game.
